I have been sewing
for as long as I can remember. As a child I often raided my
mother's scrap box to make Barbie clothes and small gifts. I
still have the Singer Featherweight sewing machine I learned
to sew on. My mother purchased it in 1950, making payments
of$11.82.
During the Cabbage Patch craze of the 80's I made soft
sculpture dolls, dressed them in baby clothes and sold them
at craft fairs. This, naturally, led me to become a teddy
bear artist. By the mid 90's I was doing Teddy Bear shows up
and down the east coast. Recently, I have incorporated some
new techniques into my bears and critters--including hand
painted glass eyes and needle felting. My critters tend
toward the whimsical and my love of animals is reflected
in the teddy bears, dogs, cats, and other critters I create.
My husband, Bill,
and I reside in warm central Florida with our two
Dachshunds, Lexi and Lucy.
